Mulțumesc (Thank You) — Iarina’s first original song
A song about the joy of being yourself, smiling and dreaming. “Mulțumesc” (“Thank You”) invites us to appreciate what we have, give ourselves room to make mistakes and see the world through a child’s eyes, free from the pressure to keep proving ourselves.

Iarina’s story

A passion that grows with her

She began singing at the age of six. At eight, she first stepped onto the stage of the Comic Opera for Children in School of Rock. It was an important beginning, showing her how music, theatre and dance could come together to tell stories that audiences feel.

Since then, Iarina has continued to grow. She has studied singing, acting, dance and piano. She attends the School of Musical at the Comic Opera for Children and studies piano at Arts School No. 2. Behind every stage appearance are hours of rehearsal, practice, nerves, tiredness and a great deal of discipline.

Beyond musical theatre

Music, emotion and shared moments

Iarina has represented Romania at Sanremo Junior and won awards at festivals including Bucharest in Music, Lumini Sonore and the Cezar Ouatu International Festival. She has also released her own songs. In interviews, she speaks openly about the joy of singing and the nerves she feels before every performance.

Another important moment for Iarina was her musical encounter with Alexandra Ușurelu. They first performed Supererou together at the National Theatre in Bucharest: a song about the children who give meaning to their parents’ lives and the bond between generations. Singing alongside an artist she admires made this a deeply moving experience for Iarina. It revealed another side of her: her sensitivity, her care for a song’s message and her joy in sharing the stage with people she can learn from.

On October 29, 2026, Iarina Maria Popescu was invited to appear on “Tonomatul DP2”, where she delighted viewers with two special musical performances.

Iarina performed “Rise Like a Phoenix”, a powerful and emotional song, and “Popular” from the hit musical Wicked, bringing energy, personality, and a touch of humor to the stage.

Two contrasting songs that allowed Iarina to express her passion for music and musical theatre.

Four years ago, I sang Alexandra’s song “Când zâmbești” for the very first time. That was when a dream began: to sing beside her one day, in front of all of you.
Today, my dream has found its stage. I’m here, next to Alexandra, and I’m so happy to share this moment with you.
Even when the world tells me to be “realistic,” I choose to keep dreaming. And I invite you to dream with me.

Stories brought to life through voice

Iarina Maria Popescu loves stories, whether she tells them on stage, through music or through her voice. As a Romanian dubbing artist, she has brought characters to life in children’s and family productions on Disney+ and Netflix, including Manny, Albăstrea, Adri, Luly, Melody’s Medi-Talker and Bird.
Her favourite role is Blaze in Toy Story 5.
These roles reveal another side of her talent: the joy of conveying emotion through voice. Each character calls for care, imagination and expression, and Iarina brings the same energy to the recording studio that audiences see in her musical theatre performances.

Cor cu Dor

Dozens of children, one shared voice

Iarina is also a member of Cor cu Dor, a choir founded in 2016 under the guidance of conductor Teodora Jaworski, a classical singer and former soloist with the Madrigal – Marin Constantin National Chamber Choir. In this equal-voice choir, every child is encouraged to find their own musical identity. Like a family, they listen to one another so that, together, they can sing as one.

Concerts and shared moments

Barcelona competition

· Barcelona

In September 2026, Cor cu Dor took part in the fifteenth edition of the prestigious International Choir Festival and Competition Cançó Mediterrània in Lloret de Mar.

The choir won three awards, but perhaps the most memorable moment was performing two songs inside the Sagrada Família basilica.

Vama

· Arenele Romane

Cor cu Dor opened Vama’s concert, and for Iarina, who sang the opening notes, it was an unforgettable moment. Her nerves matched her joy: it was her first time singing in front of 4,000 people.

Croatia competition

· Rovinj, Croatia

At the Chorus Inside Croatia 2024 international competition, Cor cu Dor won First Prize in two categories, a double achievement celebrated with joy and emotion.
